Most items below have government-regulated disposal requirements from the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) and typically cost more to dispose of, or the disposal quantity or weight is limited.

2. Typically allowed items

  • Disposal fees – most companies include disposal in their pricing. Either way, different types of rubbish incur different disposal fees. Ensure you understand what is allowed in your bin and the cost of speciality items such as green/landscaping waste, heavy items such as bricks, waste regulated by the government such as asbestos, and more.  
  • Bin type – roll-on/roll-off skip bins attach to a truck, ideal for industrial sites and large waste collection needs. If the items you are disposing of are of value, consider a lockable skip bin. A lockable skip also keeps others from disposing of their items within.  
  • Permit fees – you will need a permit if you place your bin on anything other than private property or property you rent, for example a foot path or road.
